PHOSPHATED WIRES

Phosphated wire production

Trafileria Lecco srl is a benchmark for the production of wires suitable for different purposes. All products manufactured by the company are high quality and durable, also offering the customer excellent value for money. Among the variety of metal wires we produce, one of the highlights is definitely the production of phosphated wire, or in other words metal wires that have undergone a process of austempering and phosphating.

WHAT IS PHOSPHATING?

Phosphating is a chemical process by which the surface of the wires or wire rods, before being drawn and after the chemical pickling, are covered in phosphate crystals chemically bound to the substrate. Generally it:

  • exploites the compounds' properties
  • improves the workability of the material
  • promotes adhesion for potential paintwork in the future

The phosphate process is commonly used for items made of iron or ferrous alloys, and is, for example, preparation for necessary treatment made to sheet steel paintwork in the automotive industry.
